Earth Day Potluck @ North Georgetown Elementary

Join us for a community pot luck on Earth Day (April 22nd) where we will be creating an art project together and hosting a workshop on easy techniques to start a garden this summer. This is a public event, however if you are not a teacher, associated with the school, a partner organization or company, or parent or guardian of a student at NGE or another SNAC partner school, RSVP is MANDATORY for attendance.

Time: 12am-3pm

Location: North Georgetown Elementary School (644 N Bedford Street, Georgetown DE)

What to bring: Please feel free to bring any extra personal items such as garden gloves, hat, sunscreen, kneeling pads for weeding, or personal tools. Lunch and water will be provided, we encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle. 

What to wear: Clothes that can get dirty, warm layers that can be removed or added, hat, sunblock. Please wear the appropriate clothing to keep yourself warm during winter/early spring months.

What to expect:
12 pm: SNAC Garden Executive Director will host a workshop to teach you how to prepare and seed garden beds for the spring season. We will demonstrate by preparing our garden beds in the SNAC Garden.

1-3pm: Potluck lunch to demonstrate healthy, easy recipes and ways to add more vegetables to your diet. Meals will be vegetarian and made from vegetables that we demonstrated planting in the workshop. We will also finish whatever work is left in the garden during this time. Following lunch, we will have a reading of The Adventures of Moli and Cule by local author Jeri Berc, and an ecosystem yoga class taught by SNAC Director Shandra Furtado.
