Volunteer: Longneck Elementary

Join us in the SNAC Garden Greenhouses and Gardens this spring throughout April-May to plant our cold weather crops for the season and start seeds for our plant sale with students and teachers! If you would like to participate, please make sure to fill out the form on the bottom of this page to be added to our 2024 volunteer list, if you have not yet volunteered with us this year. If you have volunteered with us this year your email should be in our volunteer group to receive updates on scheduled dates and there is no need to fill out the form again.

When volunteering, ALWAYS sign into the front office first and then meet us in the SNAC Garden afterwards. If it is your first time volunteering, contact shandra@snacgarden.org and we will wait for you in the front office to show you how to sign in.

Timeline: Late Feb to end of May

Time commitment: 2 hours

Location: Longneck Elementary

Description: You will be transplanting soil blocks into small containers, watering, labeling, and providing a final count of plants to prepare for the plant sales at each school. You will be instructed on how to move soil blocks into new containers (it is very easy once the plants are established!) Student & teacher help is available, and a garden educator will be on shift to help if needed. Once you feel comfortable, you can do this work independently. We will also be preparing garden beds by weeding, amending with compost, and direct seeding cold weather crops.

Tools to bring: gardening gloves if preferred

Skill level: easy

Supervision level: low

What to wear: Clothes that can get dirty, warm layers that can be removed or added, hat, sunblock
